Astronomy: the sky isn't falling: This program looks at the universe and explains the Big Bang theory in a way that is understandable to students.
Space Exploration: Human minds have been dreaming of the sky and stars since we first became aware of our limitations. Our dreams have propelled us into orbit, to the moon and back and today we are expanding our horizons even further, making plans to build a lunar base and colonize the planet Mars. This program looks at the development of in space technology from building the International Space Station to terraforming Mars and mining the asteroids. Students learn how space exploration opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
Galaxy: the Milky Way: The Sun is only one of more than 200 billion stars in the Milky Way. Students will see the enormous span of the universe, some of our neighboring stars and an excellent description of the life of a star. Of the 200 billion stars in our galaxy, the nearest star is Alpha Centauri, 4.25 light years away.
Exploring our solar system: Embark on a journey which takes students from planet Earth to the outer fringes of our solar system. Students get a close-up look at the planets in our solar system, from Mercury's cratered surface to Jupiter's huge red spot and Saturn's spectacular rings. Discover the mysteries and surprises of our solar system, our celestial home.
The sun: powerhouse of the solar system: The Sun releases energy that powers the entire Solar System. Charged particles from the core's chemical reactions create a stream of plasma that escapes the Sun's atmosphere. That stream is called the solar wind and contains the entire spectrum of electromagnetic radiation. The Sun creates an enormous magnetic field that regularly twists, triggering mass ejections or flares that turn the solar wind into a storm. The Sun is only one of more than 200 billion stars in the Milky Way. Students will see the enormous span of the Universe, some of our neighboring stars and an excellent description of the life of a star.
